Meet Fleur Barnafather, the artist helping you tap into your creative potential

Meet Fleur Barnafather

📍 South Wales, UK

I empower individuals who believe they lack creativity to discover their innate artistic potential and create beautiful paintings while enjoying the process. Alongside my personal painting journey, I offer engaging in-person and online art workshops that nurture your creative spirit. When I’m not painting, you can find me exploring nature or immersed in the joy of 5 Rhythms dancing.

What moment or experience inspired you to start your business? What was your vision at the beginning?

Several years ago, I attended a self-development conference, and the organizer invited me to bring along a few of my paintings created in my spare time. Someone asked if I could paint something for them, encouraging me to follow my inspiration. That moment was the spark for my painting business.

I created a “Soul Portrait” that celebrated all the wonderful qualities of that person. When they saw the painting, they got goosebumps, and tears sprang into their eyes—they felt truly seen. That’s when I realized the magic in my intuitive approach to art. Since then, I’ve continued to create inspiring artwork and empower others to discover their unique creative voices. Creating art helps make the world a more beautiful and vibrant place for everyone.

What does a typical day for you look like?

I like to tap into my life vision before getting out of bed. That dreamy, magical moment before fully waking up is when I envision my future and feel joy while appreciating everything I love about my current life.

After waking, I start my day with hot water and lemon or apple cider vinegar, followed by a 20-minute stretch combining yoga and chi gong. Then, I brew a cup of tea, make toast with butter and honey (yum!), and dive into emails and planning my day. My routine usually includes a mix of admin tasks and creative work, and sometimes I run online art sessions.

Whatever the weather, I make sure to go for a countryside walk around midday—I’m lucky to have beautiful scenery right on my doorstep.

What unique routines or habits do you believe contribute to your success?

Tapping into my intuition and listening to the divine aspect of myself is a key part of my life. My inner knowing guides me in everything I do. Walking in nature is another essential habit—it’s a great way to recharge and often sparks my best ideas.

What’s your workstation setup?

I have two main workstations: my kitchen table, where I keep my laptop and notebooks, and my studio area, complete with an easel, paints, and all my creative tools. No matter where I work, I always have a stunning view of the gorgeous countryside.

Where do you go to look for inspiration?

Most of my ideas come from exploring the inner realms—the spaces in between spaces. I believe ideas float around, waiting for their “human” to bring them to life. The more I’m in a meditative space, the easier it is for ideas to flow.

What core values drive your business, and how have they shaped your path?

Authenticity is at the heart of everything I do. Drawing from my unique creative perspective and being genuine and caring in my approach have been key to shaping my path.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

I’m proud of amplifying all that’s beautiful, magical, and wonderful in the world. By focusing on potential and energizing a vision where everyone thrives, I feel I’m contributing to a better world—not just for a few, but for everyone.

What’s a challenge you’re currently working on in your business?

Reaching new audiences is a big challenge for me. I also find administrative tasks, like creating sales pages, frustrating at times. While I love the creative aspects of my work, navigating the business side can feel slow and tricky.

What music do you listen to while working?

I love listening to ambient, relaxing “sound bath” music while I work. It sets a peaceful and creative tone.

What’s one piece of advice someone gave you that you’ll never forget?

“Be yourself, everyone else is taken.” This simple yet profound advice has stuck with me over the years.

Any advice for ambitious professionals in your field?

Trust your inner voice and stay authentic. Creativity flourishes when you’re true to yourself.

What shortcuts are you eyeing next on World of Shortcuts?

I’ve been thinking about running retreats, so this shortcut caught my eye: The Retreat Profits System.
