I help British expats and nomads grow an income from UK property without flying back to the UK. I also send weekly-ish emails sharing life on the inside of doing exactly that. When I’m not overseeing our next property purchase or mentoring expats & nomads, you can find me worldschooling our kids and having simple & spontaneous adventures wherever we are in the world.
What moment or experience inspired you to start your business? What was your vision at the beginning?
I always felt I wanted to have control over all my time and be free to be wherever I wanted in the world. Following a death in the family, I reduced the hours of my part-time virtual work. My income fell, but what kept paying me was a couple of rental properties that I’d bought years before. I thought I’d made mistakes on them and hadn’t given them much attention. That made me realize I needed to refocus on the process of creating more income like that.
What does a typical day for you look like?
Wake up hearing the birds. Make a coffee. Spend an hour or so on the most valuable priorities in our property business. Have breakfast with my family. Make a plan for our day—explore wherever we are in the world as a family. Maybe a Muay Thai lesson if we’re in Thailand, or an ancient hiking trail if we’re in Japan. In the afternoon, I check in with my team, reply to queries, and support mentees & clients during a break in our day. Family dinner follows in the evening.
What unique routines or habits do you believe contribute to your success?
I set boundaries on when I work and when I don’t. I read my goals every morning and choose a small action I can take each day to move toward them. I have 3 words that describe how I want life to be. These act as a filter, and every decision gets passed through these, helping me ensure what I choose to do in our business is aligned with how I want life to be.
What's your workstation setup?
My workstation is my phone. As location freedom is important to me, I make sure I can do everything I need to from my phone, whether we’re on a mountaintop, a beach, or a train in Sri Lanka.
Where do you go to look for inspiration?
My favorite place to find inspiration is anywhere with a comfy chair, a cup of coffee, and where I can hear the birds and the breeze.
What core values drive your business, and how have they shaped your path?
Freedom—in time and location.
What part of your business are you most proud of?
I’m most proud that we can create safe homes for our tenants and support other expats & nomads to create an income from UK property while worldschooling our children and traveling the world as a family.
What’s a challenge you’re currently working on in your business?
Maintaining freedom in time & location as we grow our business.
What music do you listen to while working?
I love listening to music my kids like, stepping into their world. Currently, it’s a bit of Tears for Fears and a bit of Eminem.
What’s one piece of advice someone gave you that you’ll never forget?
Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right!
Any advice for ambitious professionals in your field?
Focus on setting up systems that allow you to maintain freedom of time and location, while keeping your business profitable.
