What moment or experience inspired you to start your business? What was your vision at the beginning?

I always dreamed of the day I might be able to work for myself full time, but if I'm being honest, I never really thought it would happen. I was in my 10th year as a high school teacher—overworked, totally burned out, and really sick—when I had the realization that something had to change. So I committed. I turned in my resignation, and the rest is history.

What does a typical day for you look like?

One of the greatest gifts of entrepreneurship is a slow morning. After waking and getting ready for the day, I typically spend some time in prayer and Bible study before I eat breakfast. After that, I dive into emails and client work (or whatever my task list tells me to do that day). I take a break for lunch and strictly end my day at 4:30 to spend time with my family. Sometimes, if we're having a slow evening and I'm feeling especially inspired, I might pull my laptop back out, but most of the time, evenings are reserved for family, friends, and hobbies.

What unique routines or habits do you believe contribute to your success?

Beginning my day with prayer and Bible study has been a key piece of holding on to my sanity. Entrepreneurship is a wild ride, and starting my day this way helps to keep me grounded. Plus, the routine helps to prep my brain for the day. Now I can't start my day without it.

What's your workstation setup?

I work in front of a window so that I can watch the bunnies and squirrels run around my yard. I'm surrounded by so many sticky notes, notebooks, and reference books. My iPad is always nearby and usually plays the part of a second screen.

Where do you go to look for inspiration?

I'm really inspired by words and pictures. I look at photos, art, and read quotes and definitions when I need a spark of creativity.

What core values drive your business, and how have they shaped your path?

I believe that anyone can learn anything and that education changes lives. This belief has been central to my business journey in two ways. First, it has allowed me to learn a number of skills that I am then able to support clients with. And second, this belief helps me to work with clients who are educating others. It's not a matter of IF someone can learn something, it's a matter of HOW, so we just have to figure out exactly what that is.

What part of your business are you most proud of?

I have a comprehensive audio series called Course Design 101 that I am extremely proud of. It is a series of micro audio lessons to teach someone how to develop a course-based group program and it contains my entire process from end to end.

What’s a challenge you’re currently working on in your business?

Balancing business growth with self-care is always a challenge. It's so easy to prioritize clients over a workout and that one project over a solid lunch.

What music do you listen to while working?

I listen to the Deep Focus playlist on Spotify when I am writing and my liked songs on shuffle for anything else (which is honestly just the same songs I was listening to in the early 00s).

What’s one piece of advice someone gave you that you’ll never forget?

You can do anything, but not everything.

Any advice for ambitious professionals in your field?

Focus on what truly resonates with you and your experiences. Authenticity is key.
